Khotang fire victims get relief

Khotang, January 5

Various organisations provided relief to fire victims in Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-7, Khotang, today. Five houses belonging to Magam Rai, Uchit Bahadur Rai, Tambaraj Rai and Ambaraj Rai were gutted in Mahadevsthan on Tuesday.

Jagadish Das, a businessperson from Katari, Udayapur, who stayed at Magam’s house, was also a victim of the fire.

Lok Nepal, Kathmandu provided relief materials worth over 78,000 rupees to the victims. Deputy Mayor of the municipality Bimala Rai distributed the items that included quilts, trousers, T-shirts and coats to the victims. Earlier, Nepali Army and Armed Police Force personnel had built temporary shelters for the displaced fire victims.

Rs  5,000 in cash to each households of the fire victims. Various other bodies and organisations such as the district natural disaster rescue committee, the Red Cross Society, the local chamber of commerce and industry and the municipality had also provided relief to the fire victims.

Meanwhile, the municipality has launched a relief collection campaign to help in rehabilitation of the victim families.
