KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 2

Chairman of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality ward no 1 met with Health Minister Pradip Paudel on Monday to discuss the urgent need for healthcare services in the region

During this meeting, Funuru Sherpa, the chairperson of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-1, formally handed over a request for the establishment of a 5-bed hospital and a local postmortem center. He was accompanied by Mingma Sherpa, local NC leader and president at Thamecho Kydug.

In a letter addressed to the Health Minister Paudel highlighted the challenges faced by the local population due to the absence of postmortem facilities. Currently, families are compelled to transport deceased bodies to district headquarters for postmortem examinations, leading to additional hardships. This process has also resulted in various legal and health complications due to delays in performing postmortems, it added.

The letter also stated that local hospital would provide timely treatment and improve the overall healthcare services available to the community. The establishment of a postmortem center would also ease the financial and logistical burdens on families, allowing procedures to be conducted locally.

The letter further stated that the hospital would improve emergency medical services, providing better care to the community.

The letter has called for urgent attention to these issues and has requested that the proposed healthcare facilities be established to address the region's pressing needs.
