Kidnapped student body recovered in Bardiya

NEPALGUNJ: Raju Dhital, a 22-year old student of Naubasta-8, Banke, who was kidnapped 13 days ago, has been found dead near Mankhola in Bardiya today.

According to Birendra Bahadur Baniya, Banke CDO, the police, acting on the information provided by the arrested kidnappers, found Dhital's body near Mankhola. The body was decayed completely beyond recognition. However, the body is yet to be identified by the family members.

CDO Baniya said that the seven kidnappers -- four hailing from Kathmandu and three from Nepalgunj -- were already arrested. However, one of them has been absconding.

During the initial interrogation, the kidnappers had told that the body was dumped in Bhaktapur. They had also changed their prior version and told that they threw the body in Bhalubang instead. However, the body was recovered as the suspects finally disclosed the truth that Dhital was killed in Bardiya.

Dhital, who was a Bachelor level student studying in Kathamandu, was kidnapped from Dhambojhi Chowk of Nepalgunj on November 24. He was called there by the group of Durga BC, Hemata Shahi and Gobinda KC in the guise of his relatives. Prior to the kidnapping, Shahi had established a relationship with Dhital's mother and father and as sister and brother-in-law and frequently visited the Dhitals.

The kidnappers had demanded Rs 2.5 million as ransom but settled in 1.2 million following bargaining. Dhital's sister and mother had come to Kathmandu to pay the ransom.

He was the only son of the Dhital family.
