Kidnapper flees from custody

Birgunj, May 8 :

A member of a notorious Indian kidnapping racket has fled from police custody. Hitlal Sahani Rudal of the Chhotelal Sahani gang, who was arrested for his involvement in the attack on industrialist Ramesh Kedia, fled in collusion with the police on April 25.

The information of Rudal’s escape surfaced only after an inquiry was conducted into the workings of the Sahani gang. Police had arrested Rudal in the second week of April.

Even though Rudal had been charged with kidnapping, he was allowed to move around in the local bazaar under police escort. On April 25, he slipped out of police custody from a hotel in Ranighat. Sub-inspector Dinesh Sahini was escorting Rudal at the time.

Zonal police office chief SSP Manoj Kumar Shah confirmed the incident.
