KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 01

Two kids have been struggling for life for want of treatment expenses in Brahmapur Rural Municipality of Sarlahi district.

Gautam Kumar Raya, 14, and Roshani Kumari Raya, 11, of the rural municipality have been living with tumour on their hands for a long time. They are yet to receive treatment due to poverty. The kids' father Rabindra took the kids to Malangawa Hospital for treatment. The hospital referred them to Kathmandu-based hospital for further treatment. "But I had no means for taking my children to Kathmandu," he said.

Rabindra said he wandered here and there seeking help for treatment expenses of his children. He took his kids to Kathmandu-based National Trauma Centre with health insurance. He said he had been facing problems for the same. He has been searching for helping hands for surgery, food, among others, even though the hospital has given some facilities for treatment. "I have nothing left to buy meals, water, among other essentials," he said.

Rabinda has a small hut in Sarlahi. There are eight members in his family. He had run the family as a daily wage earner in India. Acute food crisis hit the family hard after he returned home from India. A social worker Samser Raya had taken the kids to Kathmandu.
