Kin vandalise hospital after patient’s death in Chitwan

Chitwan, February 8

Family members and relatives resorted to vandalising Manakamana Hospital in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-10 after a patient’s death in the course of treatment at the health facility today.

Krishna Prasad Bhusal, 38, was admitted to the hospital after he sustained injuries after he fell off a tree at a community forest near his home today. With deep cuts in his head and various body parts, Bhusal was admitted to the hospital at around 11:50am today. He breathed his last at 1:15pm, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Durga Raj Regmi.

Relatives vandalised the hospital citing doctor’s negligence in Bhusal’s treatment. Property worth Rs 1.5 lakh was damaged. Police have arrested six persons for their alleged involvement in vandalism. A discussion is under way to settle the problem between kin of the deceased and hospital administration, said CDO Jitendra Basnet.
