King orders Nepalgunj govt offices be shifted

Nepalgunj, August 27:

King Gyanendra today instructed the district authorities here to shift all regional government offices from Nepalgunj to Surkhet within three months. He said departmental action will be taken if the instructions are not followed within the stipulated time. The king, in a meeting with chairmen of the District Development Committees and regional and zonal administrators at the Bheri Zonal Administration Office in Kohalpur, said, “I had issued similar instructions one-and-half-years ago so as to transform Surkhet into a development centre. Departmental action will be taken this time around if the instructions are not followed.” The king had earlier directed the district authorities to shift the regional offices to Surkhet during a civic reception in Nepalgunj.

The king also directed that all zonal offices be shifted to Kohalpur, the headquarters of the Bheri zone, within the next six months. “The zonal government offices should be in the zonal headquarters according to the zonal concept. This work must conclude within six months. The centre will also help in the shifting process,” the king told the district officials. Bheri zonal administrator, Min Bahadur Pal, chairman of the District Development Committee (Banke), Pashupati Dayal Mishra, former minister, Prem Bahadur Bhandari and Banke CDO, Binod Kumar Adhikari welcomed the king upon his arrival in Kohalpur.
