Standing committee member of the CPN-UML Bam Dev Gautam today urged the King to abdicate before the conduction of the election to a Constituent Assembly and live like a commoner.

Addressing a mass meeting in Dhadingbesi, the district headquarters of Dhading, the former deputy prime minister said: “If the King does not announce his abdication, the parliament will absolve him of all his special rights.”

“The people’s movement has restored people’s rights. All the rights enjoyed by the King have been snatched,” Gautam further said.
