The Bhutanese refugees have protested Bhutanese King Jigme Singhe Wangchuk’s statement which claimed that all refugees are not Bhutanese nationals. A joint statement released by Bhutan People’s Party, Druk National Congress and Bhutan Gorkha Liberation Front said the King’s statement has disappointed the refugees awaiting repatriation.

It added that the statement is an insult to the refugees certified by the Joint Verification Team which gave them the status of refugees. The Bhutanese King had refused to accept all the refugees as his subjects at a programme during his visit to India recently.
