Kathmandu, April 30:

Foreign affairs expert Hiranya Lal Shreshta today said King Gyanendra utilised the recently-concluded Asian-African summit in Jakarta as a platform to unfold Nepal’s dimension in handling foreign affairs. “The King identified the common problem most of the countries are facing and dovetailed its presentation in our country’s interest,” Shrestha said, speaking at a function organised by Media Group Nepal. “After the king detailed the country’s handling of foreign affairs, Nepal’s flag of foreign diplomacy was perceived as up to the standard,” Shrestha added. He claimed that the Afro-Asian summit and Boao conference would help in lessening hegemony of western countries in world affairs. Journalist Lok Deep Thapa said the King was very impressive in all the functions. Journalist Pushpa Pradhan pointed out, “The King changed the perception of foreigners after he delivered his speech and communicated with them.”
