Koirala meets security chiefs in east

Biratnagar, January 10:

Former prime minister and NC president Girija Prasad Koirala today called chiefs of various security wings in the eastern region and the eastern regional administrator at his residence and asked them to tighten security.

The chiefs of the security organs — including Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department — briefed Koirala on security situation in the region. They told Koirala that the security situation was improving. Eastern regional administrator Dip Basnet said, “We also told Koirala that the administration was planning to declare the highways free from bandh.” Koirala also stressed the need for a better coordination among the security wings to improve security situation.

Nepal Police’s DIG Sharada Bhakta Ranjit, APF’s DIG Krishna Tamang and National Investigation Department’s DIG Durga Basnet were also present in the meeting.
