Koirala slams anti-constitution moves

Phidim, May 12

Nepali Congress central member Shekhar Koirala today accused the government of carrying out anti-constitutional activities in the country.

Addressing a function organised on the 27th establishment day of Nepal Teacher’s Association in Phidim of Panchthar today, Koirala argued that though the constitution has a clear provision for provincial meeting and local body polls, the government has unnecessarily meddled with the rights of provinces.

Koirala added that the central government has nothing to do with establishing industrial estate and reservoir projects.

He said that it was not legitimate to force the president to speak about construction of the Nijgadh-Kathmandu fast-track as the case is subjudice or cancel the president’s India visit in the last hour and recall Ambassador Deep Kumar Upadhyay.

He warned of waning bilateral relations with the neighbouring country. Koirala said that his party was committed to implementing the constitution.
