KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 13
In commemoration of the golden jubilee of Nepal and South Korea's bilateral relations, a team of veteran Korean adventurists trekked to the Everest base camp this season.
According to the president of the Korean Alpine Federation's liaison office Ngawa Ngima Sherpa, a team of trekkers from the Chungdong Alpine Club successfully completed its trek to the Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar.
"The team visited the Everest region promoting Nepal's tourism as well as marking the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between Nepal and the Republic of Korea," Sherpa, also the owner of Seoul Jib Restaurant and Sora Adventure Treks, said.
Chungdong Alpine Club's president Shin Jangseop, general secretary Lee Sang Man, Yoon Tae Woo, Choi Jung Ho, Park Daewon, Lee Duwoon, Jung Jae Pil, Choi Jong Wook, Shin Young Cheol, Choi Bpngki, Han Chiho, Weon Ji Yeoung and Yoo Jaeyoun completed EBC trek promoting Nepal's Everest region, Sherpa informed.
After completing the trek, club president Jangseop said that the team wanted to complete all base camps of the 14 peaks above 8,000m. "I have already climbed seven summits of the seven continents, including Mt Everest," he said, adding that the Chungdong Alpine Club always inspired Koreans to travel to Nepal for adventure tourism.
Chief Executive Officer at the Nepa tourism Board Deepak Raj Joshi congratulated the team for promoting Nepal's tourism in the Korean market. Former President of Nepal Mountaineering Association Santa Bir Lama also thanked the Chungdong Alpine Club for exploring Everest region. The team members started their trek on October 30 and returned to Kathmandu on November 12.
