Lack of building affects health services
RAUTAHAT: Health services have been affected at a health post in Rautahat district after a contractor left construction of a new building halfway.
The Anjana Construction Company had won the contract to construct a new health post building in Shivanagar in Mahammdpur VDC of the district from the Ministry of Health in 2009/10.
However, the contractor had run away by leaving the construction work, creating problems to facilitate the regular health services.
The health post that would provide services to more than 60 people a day has been left in the problem after the lack of rooms for health checkup. Mostly, pregnant women are affected.
Due to the lack of sufficient rooms, the service providers are unable to give quality services to the seekers, informed health post in-charge Janardan Jha.
Jha further added that the office does not have sufficient staff.
The contractor had agreed to complete and hand over the building within two years. However, six years have already passed with the building still under-construction.
The equipment that were hired to operate a lab have gathered dust.
The health post has already informed the concerned stakeholders about the issue, but the results are yet to be witnessed.
