Lack of stretchers hits patients hard
Bajura, March 29
It was a few days ago when the kin of Tuli Bada of Bajura’s Badimalika Municipality-5 searched high and low for a stretcher.
As the stretcher could not be found anywhere in the village, the mother was compelled to deliver her baby at home.
Likewise, kin of Dhana Saud of Badimalika Municipality-6 walked the expecting mother to a nearby health centre after they could not find a stretcher to carry her there two days ago. Unfortunately, she delivered the baby on the way.
Like in Ward Nos 5 and 6, there is not a single stretcher in Ward No 4 as well to carry patients to health facilities.
“As there is not a single stretcher in the village, it causes problem for us whenever anyone needs to be rushed to a health centre,” said Bisna Saud, chairperson of a local mothers’ group.
“The nearest health facility is about three hours’ walk from here and on top of it the way is very rough due to geographical terrain, so the lack of a stretcher has been a real problem for us,” she said.
Further, she lamented that there was no assistance from any quarters even after frequent calls for help.
