Lack of ward secretaries hampering work in Tanahun
Damauli, April 15
Regular work in all wards of Bandipur Rural Municipality, Tanahun, has been affected after all the posts of ward secretaries in the rural municipality fell vacant following the transfer of employees serving in these positions here earlier.
According to Bandipur Rural Municipality Chief Administrative Officer Sukadev Lamsal, posts of ward secretaries have fallen vacant ever since the serving secretaries were transferred elsewhere as part of the employees’ adjustment ordinance mandated by the government.
“Of the total 12 permanent employees, eight have been transferred elsewhere as part of employees’ adjustment,” Lamsal informed. “The five employees who have been transferred here are related to livestock and agriculture service, so the vacant posts of secretaries can’t be filled,” Lamsal further added.
The rural municipality also has vacant posts for second-class non-gazetted officer, an accountant and an engineer.
Bandipur Rural Municipality Vice-chairperson Karuna Gurung expressed concern about the vacant posts and wondered if the government could allow employees adjusted in the federal level to stay put in their duty stations until their replacements arrive to pick up the baton.
