Lamjung man living in forest for 40 years receives citizenship

LAMJUNG: A 73-year-old person who had been living in the forest for four decades has finally received his citizenship certificate.

Shamsher Tamang of Banskot village in Nauthar received his certificate from Lamjung District Administration Office on August 5.

According to Chairperson of Dordi Rural Municipality-4, Suk Bahadur Gurung, Tamang who had been living in the village till his 30s suddenly went missing after the death of his wife and 18-month-old son.

Tamang had been reportedly living in the jungle and caves after two of his close relatives passed away and his daughter got married.

Chair Gurung further said that after he was recently seen around the rural municipality, he was presented with the certificate to ease his living condition.

As the government distributes Rs 3,000 per month as Social Security Allowance for senior citizens, the ward office has started the process for Tamang, added Gurung.
