LAMJUNG: Dudhpokhari Rural Municipality of Lamjung district has today received materials to counteract unforeseen disasters.

Lamjung District Coordination Committee chair Lokraj Pandey handed over the materials to rural municipality chair Chhupimaya Gurung amid a programme. He said, disasters strike without informing, so materials to counteract them should always be kept handy to reduce their effect.

Rural municipality chair Gurung committed to utilising the materials for the cause of social welfare.

On the occasion, Gurung extended her gratitude to the Committee for Promotion of Public Awareness and Development Studies (COPPADES), Lamjung for their support in distributing relief materials and reconstruction of houses in the district, in the aftermath of April 2015 earthquake.

In the programme, COPPADES founder chairman and executive director Dikendraraj Kandel informed that 14 different types of materials to counteract disasters were worth Rs 157,000.

Dudhpokhari Rural Municipality Deputy Chair Kamal Prasad Dhital said that COPPADES is a non-government organisation working in the district to improve the living standards of locals by helping in farming vegetables, cash crops, black cardamom among others.
