Land office offers onilne service
Chitwan, April 10
District Land Revenue Office, Chitwan, today launched various online services, including transfer of land ownership certificate, land registration, blocking and release of land, among others.
Joint Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Minister Uttam Kumar Khatri and Director General of Department of Land Reform and Management Rohit Kumar Bhattarai jointly inaugurated the online service today.
Land Revenue Office Chief Tanka Prasad Upadhyay said all transactions of Shreepur, Korak, Chandibhanjyang and Kabilas VDCs will be carried out online.
He said the office had recorded as many as 450,000 kitta land online. “Preparations are under way to keep online record of lands in the district,” said Upadhyay.
Chitwan Land Revenue Office is the seventh office to introduce online service after Kathmandu’s Kalanki and Dillibazaar, Lalitpur, Dhading, Makawanpur and Bhaktapur-based land revenue offices.
According to Director at the Department of Information Technology Shree Chandra Sah, the online service had started from Kalanki in Kathmandu on August 10 last year.
“The government is preparing to provide online service from 14 offices of the country in the first phase. This service is safe and reliable.
Though we are currently keeping both online and paper records, we will gradually maintain online records only,” said Sah.
He also claimed that each land owner will be given an eleven-digit symbol number so that they can see the total area of their registered land.
“All information related to land, including sale and purchase, will be recorded online. Hence, there is zero chance of fraudulent use of land. Also, nobody can evade tax in this system.
If anybody exceeds the land limitation, the system will unveil everything,” he claimed. According to Khatri, online service will be highly effective and transparent.
Meanwhile, Chitwan Chief District Officer Binod Prasad Singh claimed that the trend of producing fake documents during the sale and purchase of land would be eliminated with the service.
Around 23,000 land registrations are recorded at Chitwan Land revenue Office annually, said sources.
