Land revenue office running without chief

Dhading, November 28

Service seekers have been facing a hard time as District Land Revenue Office, Dhading, is being operated without a chief since one month.

Locals reaching the district headquarters from remote areas could not get their work done due to lack of chiefs in the land revenue office.

The office has been left without a chief after the acting chief Ram Prasad Machamashi was transferred to Bhaktapur just after Dashain festival. The office doesn’t have even a single officer level staff. Officers duo Gaurikanta Bhattarai and Shekhar Adhikari were transferred from the district to other places before Dashain festival. There are three officer quotas in the district land revenue office.

The land revenue office has not been providing even basic services such as land registration, division of property, purchase and sale of land, among others. Non-gazetted second class officers are operating the office. The sole responsibility of the office was given to non-gazetted second class officer Motiram Thapaliya of Land Reform and Management Office since officers have yet to be deployed in the vacant posts. He said he could not perform the works of the chief.

As many as 50 to 60 people reach the office for land registration on a daily basis. Service seekers said they had to wait for four to five days to get even minor work done.
