Landslides and floods have damaged more than 300 houses in Dolakha this monsoon.
Floodwater from Recharge pond constructed in the forest damaged over 10 houses at wards 2 and 3 of Bhimeswor Municipality.
The pond was constructed for the wildlife of Khorthali Community Forest two years ago. Excessive rainfall caused the pond to burst.
The flood has damaged more than 10 houses including one resort.
Khorfthali is the largest community forest of Dolakha headquarters Charikot. Locals say that they still face risk from the pond.
Bagmati province government, Bhimeswor Municipality and Division Forest Office had constructed the pond to make an open zoo.
Division Forest Office, Dolakha, Chief Thir Bahadur Karki said that he had no knowledge about the pond.
Likewise, landslide buried six houses and one shop at Kholikham of Bigu Rural Municipality last Sunday night. It has been raining for the last seven days in the district.
The landslide and flood have displaced more than 300 families across the district, said Chief Ganga Prasad Poudel of District Police Office, Dolakha.
Landslide has put more than 50 houses at risk in Gaurishankar Rural Municipality, said Deputy Chief Shyam Sundar Tamang.
