ACHHAM: Seventy families of Patalkot area, displaced by landslides, have still been living in temporary shelters. Altogether 445 people are living in tents.

“We have been able to earn as wage workers for two meals a day but the greater problem is shelter," said Krishna Bohara of Patalkot-9. ''We are worried about our future.''

The victims are not satisfied with the relief that they receive sporadically. The victims, who lost all their property in the disaster, spend winter nights in tents.

Mandire Bohara, chairman, Relief Distribution Committee, said the victims had not been given enough food grains. He accused the government of not being serious about settling the victims permanently.

The victims have complained that the rice distributed by the government was of poor quality. They have also expressed disappointment with political party leaders for failing to resettle them.

''Leaders who came to ask for vote did not see us in our grief,'' lamented Dev Bohara, of Patal- 9.

Patients of common cold, pneumonia and fever have been increasing in the settlement lately.
