BAITADI: The Mahakali Highway has been completely obstructed due to a landslide triggered by incessant rain last night.

The highway has been closed for traffic after the landslide occurred in Satbanjh-Gokuleshwar road section of the highway, according to Police Inspector Kanti Raj Joshi at the District Police Office Baitadi. Efforts to open the road for traffic have been hampered by continuous rain, he said.

The landslide debris is likely to be cleared off the road by late afternoon.

Meanwhile, commuters and travellers have been affected by the transportation that has come to standstill. The landslide in the place has become an annual affair after it first occurred some 15 years ago.
