KATHMANDU, MAY 3
Multiple highways and road sections across the country have been disrupted following landslides triggered by pre-monsoon rains over the past few days.
According to police, the Kanti Highway has been blocked after a landslide at Pangdur in Bagmati Rural Municipality–3, Lalitpur, while the Mid-Hill Highway has been obstructed at Bimire Bhanjyang in Madhya Nepal Municipality–10, Lamjung.
Similarly, the Bhaluwang–Pyuthan road section at Khare Khola in Pyuthan and the Kanti Lokpath at Bhayangdanda in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality–8 have been completely blocked, said police spokesperson Deputy Inspector General Abinarayan Kafle.
The Araniko Highway at Kodari in Bhotekoshi–2, Sindhupalchok, remains fully obstructed since a landslide on April 29.
Meanwhile, sections of the Mid-Hill Highway in Bhojpur and the Beni–Jomsom road in Myagdi, earlier blocked by floods and landslides, have reopened for one-way traffic.
Traffic has also been partially affected along the Narayangadh–Muglin Road after a landslide at Tuin Khola early this morning, with vehicles currently operating on a one-way basis.
Authorities said a dozer has been mobilised from the Division Road Office, Bharatpur, to clear debris at the site, located about five kilometres from Muglin towards Narayangadh.
Police have urged travellers to exercise caution, noting an increased risk of floods and landslides during the ongoing pre-monsoon period.
