Kathmandu, April 16:

Hot on the heels of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) chairman Pashupati SJB Rana’s announcement of the formation of a 11-member central work performance committee, party vice-chairman Padma Sunder Lawati and some other leaders have expressed “disagreement” with Rana, describing the procedure as an “anti party-statute”. Expressing what he said was “total disagreement”, Lawati told this daily that the “hasty” pro-cess was against the norms and values of the party statute. “This was done without consultations,” he said adding that the formation of the panel should have been through election, not selection. “I have told him (Rana) that I am not accepting the seat in the committee, which has been constituted in an improper manner without due regional, ethnic and gender balance,” Lawati said. Rana, however, is said to have “tried to convince” Lawati that the selection was made on the basis of seniority. Party joint general Khem Raj Pandit could not be contacted for comment. Another central working committee (CWC) leader, who insisted on anonymity, expressed disatisfaction at the selection process, saying it would have a negative effect during the next CWC meeting.
