Kathmandu, July 5:

While the new ministers in the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led cabinet were taking their oath of the office in the Royal Palace, leaders of the four agitating parties labelled the cabinet as ‘useless and irresponsible’. Leaders said it is useless to make comments on the cabinet that is accountable to the King and not the people. “We have already expressed our dissatisfaction over the process of Deuba’s appointment,” Nepali Congress (NC) central committee leader Ram Chandra Poudel said adding that the government is not accountable to the people, but the King. “This government can do nothing except spoiling existing system,” president of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party Narayan Man Bijukchhe. This government, Bijukchhe said, would work on the basis of nepotism and favouritism. General secretary of Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Anandidevi), Rajendra Mahato termed the cabinet as a result of ‘power sharing’ and cannot be accountable to the people. Mahato also came down heavily on newly appointed minister Badri Prasad Mandal for humiliating the spirits of the Madhesi community.
