Light tremor shakes Nepal's far-western Darchula district bordering India

KATHMANDU: A light earthquake of local magntude 4.1 hit the Far-Western Nepal on Wednesday morning.

The National Seismological Centre said the earthquake recorded at 8:14 am had its epicentre inside the Api Nampa Conservation Area in Darchula district, near the Indian border.

According to the NSC, it was not a fresh earthquake and not an aftershock of the magnitude-7.6 earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25, killing thousands of people. The official death toll of the devastating earthquake and its aftershocks has been put at 8897, while hundreds of people are believed to be missing.

As many as 352 significant aftershocks (of local magnitude 4.0 or above) have been recorded from April 25 till Monday.
