Lightning injures 22 soldiers in Baitadi

BAITADI: Twenty-two Nepal Army soldiers have been injured by lightning in Baitadi district on Tuesday evening.

The soldiers — participating in a training session under the Army's Shatrumardan Company at Kathpate — came under a lightning strike at 7:50 pm yesterday, informed Company Commander Major Sudeep Baniya.

According to Major Baniya, five of the injured soldiers — Amar Singh Alemagar, Balram Thapamagar, Dinesh Raj Bhatta, Dhan Bahadur Thanet, and Sonam Lama Tamang — are in serious conditions and preparation is being made to take them to Kathmandu for treatment.

Meanwhile, rest of the soldiers who sustained minor injuries in the incident are being treated at the District Hospital, Baitadi.
