Lightning kills woman in paddy field, sleeping youth
KATHMANDU: At least two persons, one each in Saptari and Makawanpur of central Nepal, died after being hit by lightning bolts on Monday.
Police said a woman, who was planting paddy in the field, was killed on the spot after she was struck by lightning in Simrahasinghyon of Saptari district. The victim has been identified as Rekha Kumari Sada, a local resident.
Likewise, 19-year-old Suman Ghatange succumbed to injuries that he sustained in lightning at Dhiya of Makawanpur district at a hospital, police said.
It has been learned that the victim was sleeping at his maternal uncle's house when he was hit by a bolt this morning. He was rushed to Chapur Hospital where he breathed his last, police said.
