Limbuwan body warns of disrupting CA polls

Dharan, September 2:

Coordinator of the Sanghiya Limbuwan Rajya Parishad (SLRP) Sanjuhang Palungwa today warned that his organisation will disrupt the constituent assembly polls unless the government addresses their demands.

Palungwa issued the warning during a general assembly of three organisations — the SLRP, Tamangsaling Swayatta Rajya Parishad and Khambuwan Rastriya Morcha — at Bhanu Chowk. Yesterday, the Federal Democratic National Front, an umbrella organisation of the SLRP, Tamangsaling Swayatta Rajya Parishad and Khambuwan Rastriya Morcha, abruptly called off the second round of talks with the government.

“It is up to the government whether it wants a peaceful CA election or not,” Palungwa told the assembly of thousands of people who came from Ilam, Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari to attend the meet. He added the three organisations were ready for a war if the government so wished.

Palungwa also hinted that a deal could be struck with the Maoists on the issue of the demands of the indigenous people. He added that after the first round of talks, he met Maoist chairman Prachanda. Palungwa said there was no point in such “one-sided talks” but added that it did not mean that there would be no more of them.

Palungwa said that it had become necessary to declare an autonomous Limbuwan and take it by force if the government did not concede it peacefully.

SLRP Sanghiya Loktantrik manch president Kamal Charahang urged the gathering to be ready for the struggle for a Limbuwan state.
