Local authorities confiscate date expired food products

KAKARBHITTA, JHAPA: A government monitoring team confiscated inedible food products being kept for sale in the marketplaces in Jhapa.

The Mechinagar Municipality on Friday had carried out cross check surprise inspection on various shops in Mechinagar in view of the forthcoming festival of Dashain.

The team led by municipal office's Food Section Official Dipendra Karki visited at least 20 shops in Dhulabari and the local marketplaces and confiscated the date expired food products.

The team seized 25 litres of mustard oil, 17 kilograms of date expired stick noodles, 35 litres of drinks as fanta, sprite and coke, 29 kilograms of harmful colours used in food products and 14 kilograms of confections, said Karki.
