KATHMANDU: Local levels across the country will have 57,690 government employees for interim arrangement, while there will be 45,815 employees at the centre and 16,570 in the provinces.

This conclusion was reached by a committee formed to finalise the number of employees required for all three tiers of government. The organisation and management survey committee was led by Secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration Shankar Koirala.

The number of positions as recommended by the committee will come into force after it is endorsed by the Council of Ministers, MoFAGA spokesperson Suresh Adhikari said.

Accordingly, Provinces 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 will have 2,808, 2,343, 2,673, 2,247, 2,597, 1,842 and 2,060 employees respectively.
