KATHMANDU: CPN-UML senior leader Jhalanath Khanal has said the local level elections are essential for constitution implementation to pave way for development, peace and stability in the country.

Addressing a reception organised on the occasion of the Nepali New Year 2074 BS in the capital on Friday, leader Khanal claimed that some forces were attempting to prevent the election from taking place.

He further said, "We all must unite to hold the election successfully by overcoming such tendency."

Former Prime Minister Khanal said the local level elections scheduled for May 14 would not be halted under any circumstances.
