Local youths demand doctors at Dadeldhura District Hospital
Dadeldhura, September 25
Youths have urged the authorities to fill vacant posts of doctors at Dadeldhura District Hospital.
Citing the adverse effects of lack of doctors on service delivery, local youths affiliated to the local Social Unity Club met Chief District Officer Raju Prasad Poudel and representatives of security agencies urging them to take initiative to appoint doctors at the hospital.
The hospital that provides health services to people of the hilly districts of Sudurpaschim Province is now making do with only two doctors after majority of doctors left the hospital as per the employee adjustment scheme.
“More than 200 patients visit the hospital for treatment on a daily basis, but the hospital is not in a condition to provide health services to them due to lack of doctors and thus most of the patients turn to private clinics or health facilities elsewhere incurring heavy expenses,” said the club’s Chair Rabindra KC.
Further, KC informed of their plan to start an agitation if their demand was not addressed.
“We will also talk to the District Coordination Committee, local bodies and political parties, and launch an agitation if our demand goes unheard,” he said. CDO Poudel, on his part, said he has corresponded with the higher-ups regarding shortage of doctors at the hospital.
