Locals clash with police, 20 hurt

CHANDRANIGAHPUR: Twenty persons, including five policemen, were injured when a clash ensued over the issue of the irregularities in the distribution of scholarship, textbooks and appointment of teachers in the relief quota in Rajpur Phardahawa VDC, Rautahat Thursday night.

Ganesh Prasad Jaiswal, a teacher at the local Janta Secondary School, has been critically injured when police fired during the clash between the two groups of the locals. Jaiswal sustained bullet injuries and is now undergoing treatment at Gaur Hospital, police said.

SI Nabin Kumar Singh, four police constables and fourteen locals were also injured in the clash.Two police vans and a motorbike were vandalized in the incident.Police fired twenty rounds of bullets in the air to control the situation, DSP Ramesh Khadka said.

The locals have alleged Dinesh Chaudhari, the headmaster of the local Janta Secondary School, to have appointed his relatives in the relief quota for the teachers and misbehaved his opponents.As a result, they are divided into two rival groups.
