Rajbiraj, February 26:

Locals of Dhangadhi-9 in Saptari district took under their control six activists of the Jaykrishna Goit-led Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) along with their weapons and handed them over to the police yesterday. The JTMM activists were trying to extort money from one Phuleshwor Shah when the locals seized them.

JTMM activists Shrawan Yadav and Babu Ram Yadav of Dhangadhi-6 in Saptari, Tafaq Miyan of Siswabelhi-5, Surya Mandal of Belhi-6, Mohammad Jihul Gafar of Saraswar-4 and Siyaram Yadav of Dhangadhi-3 were among those handed over to the police, Saptari District Police Office (DPO) said.

Nine weapons were seized from the JTMM men. “The JTMM men threatened to kill me when I refused to give them the money,” said Phuleshwor Shah. Around 500 locals took the captured JTMM men to Bisanpur Chowk at Kalyanpur. The JTMM cadres were then handed over to the DPO.
