BARA, JUNE 18
Locals have sought action against a housing company that has brought construction of a bridge to a standstill by picking a land dispute in Bara's Jitpursimara sub-metropolis.
An under-construction bridge over Balgangakhola on the Simara-Kolhabi road section has been in limbo for some time now.
Recently, a gathering of angry locals at the bridge had asked the local representatives to confiscate all documents of Sakhara Housing Company Pvt Ltd, Basundhara, for disrupting the construction system by picking a dispute.
Responding to the locals' call, around half a dozen ward chairpersons have agreed not to provide services to the housing company.
The angry locals have also warned they will start a struggle over the suffering caused to the locals by the housing company by filing a case at the District Court of Bara against the Division Road Office of Hetauda, claiming that the bridge being constructed belonged to the company.
As per the decision, a 34-member struggle committee will be formed to create pressure for early completion of the bridge.
"Almost 85 per cent of the construction of the bridge had completed, but given the land mafia's plot, the bridge is still unfinished and people are suffering," lamented Jagadip Koirala of Ward No 18. Locals allege that the land mafia scoop up land on the river banks at cheap price fraudulently and seek a huge amount as compensation.
