Mahottari, July 22:

Locals today closed Samsi Bazaar of Mahottari district, following an altercation with the Armed Police Force personnel.

The situation became tense after police tried to prevent CPN-Maoist activist Bijaya Yadav

from importing fertiliser from Indian market.

A local of Samsi, Kripal Shah, accused the police administration of trying to bar the farmers from buying fertiliser and aiding smugglers.

Due to the unavailiability of fertilisers in local markets, farmers were compelled to import fertilisers from Indian markets, he said.
