Locals take civil servants under control; inaugurate rural municipality

Locals of Taksera at Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality, Rukum, took the civil servants under control and inaugurated the office of Uttarganga Rural Municipality in Taksera today.
The villagers took government employees who were on the way to Kol to set up the office of the Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality under control and inaugurated the office at Taksera.
Preparations had been done to set up the office of the rural municipality at Kol with the centre determined at Kol.
Locals of Taksera took the team, including the rural municipality executive officer Tilak Rawat and forced them to inaugurate the office at Taksera.
Taksera Village Concern Committee Coordinator Judhha Budha claimed that villagers had taken the rural municipality employees under control and forced them to inaugurate the office at their place. Budha claimed that an-all party meeting had decided to establish the office of the rural municipality at Taksera earlier.
Locals at Kol are agitated. They say efforts to set up the office of the rural municipality at Kol had been obstructed.
A press statement issued by Ram Bahadaur Budha of Kol said that an armed group of people had obstructed the establishment of office at Kol and sought action against the group. In the statement, Budha warned of protest if the office was not established at Kol.
Meanwhile, a team led by District Coordination Committee Programme and Communication officer Chintamani Dahal returned to the headquarters. The team said that they had fled to the headquarters after Taksera locals tried to coerce them to set up the office there.
District Coordination Committee Coordinator Narendra Kumar Rana said establishment of the office through force would not earn legality. Rana said that the office of the municipality would be set up at Kol. “As Kol has been published as the centre of Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality in Nepal gazette, Kol will have its office.”
