Lockout at varsity ends with agreement

POKHARA: Nepal Student Union’s lockout of Purvanchal University ended on Tuesday following  agreement with the union.

Earlier, the student union, on January 7, had  padlocked the central offices of the university over a dispute related to the procedures of office bearers of the Free Student Union.

The lockout ended on Tuesday following agreement that a committee would be  formed to resolve the dispute. After the agreement, FSU President Sunil  Timilsina and Secretary Suraj Pariyar broke their fast-unto-death, which  they had started from Monday. “The fast-unto-death ended with the agreement that everything would be done as per the report of the  committee to be formed under the coordination of the Dean of the  Management Stream Hari Bahadur Khadka,” said FSU president Timilsina.

The committee is expected to submit its report in a week’s time.
