Kathmandu, February 13:

The Sahitya Abhiyan Samuha (SAS) of Tri-Chandra College is to organise a love letter writing competition to mark the Valentines’ Day tomorrow.

Students from different colleges throughout the country have been participating in the contest for the last six years.

According to Nabin Khanal, president of SAS, tomorrow’s competition is a continuation of their regular programmes that they initiated six years ago. “We began the campaign to bring about positive thinking about love and extend its boundary,” he said.

He said even though the world has gone far ahead our society is still conservative about love and relationship.

“We believe that such a programme will help extend love among people when the nation is stuck in murder and violence,” he added.

Three hundred youths took part in the competition last year while around one hundred have registered their names for the competition to be held tomorrow. The competition will begin at 11 am. The organisers said lecturers of the Nepali Department of the college would be the judges for the competition and the best letters would be recited at a special function on Thursday. The winner will receive special prize on the same day.

Being influenced by the western trend Nepali youths have been inclined towards this festival in the recent years.
