RAJBIRAJ, JULY 11
Loktantrik Samajbadi Party-Nepal, Saptari, staged a demonstration in Rabiraj today putting forth a 14-point demand, including the demand that the deadline to spend budgetary allocations be preponed to mid-April.
A rally led by the party's district Chair Sunil Kumar Jha held the demonstration in Rajbiraj town area before heading to the district administration office, where they handed over a memorandum to the chief district officer. The memorandum, meant to be sent to the prime minister through CDO Janardan Gautam, also noted the problem of shortage of chemical fertiliser and asked the government to immediately solve the problem.
Furthermore, the document has also called the government-issued land-utilisation regulation extremely impractical and against the interests of small farmers and sought that it be scrapped. Similarly, other demands include bringing down the increasing price level, controlling black marketing and ensuring easy access to diesel for farmers.
Likewise, the memorandum has sought that the Girishchandra Lal-led commission's report on the Madhesi, indigenous nationalities and Tharuhat agitation be made public, fake cases against Resham Chaudhary and others be scrapped, and respect for the identity and rights of various marginal and suppressed and oppressed groups be respected in the constitution. National Assembly member Shekhar Kumar Singh, District Coordination Committee Saptari Vice-chair Shambhu Kumar Yadav and former mayor of Rajbiraj Municipality Shailesh Chaudhary, among others, also participated in the rally today.
