RAJBIRAJ, NOVEMBER 30

Lokatantrik Samajbadi Party-Nepal today submitted a memorandum to the chief district officer of Saptari district demanding solutions to the problems faced by farmers.

LSP-N Saptari presidium member Sunil Kumar Jha and central leaders Dinesh Yadav, Dipendra Chaudhary, Punam Yadav, Binod Yadav and Bijaya Yadav, among others, gained the district administration and handed a memorandum to Chief District Officer Janardan Gautam.

Through the memorandum, the leaders have sought initiatives for immediate relief to farmers who have suffered massive loss due to a number of reasons, including coronavirus pandemic, floods and inopportune rainfall.

Copies of the memorandum have also been sent to the Office of Prime Minister, Office of Chief Minister in Province 2, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development. The memorandum has also mentioned the additional problem the farmers faced due to unavailability of fertilisers and seeds at the opportune time.

Besides the demands for timely availability of fertiliser and seeds and relief to farmers, the ninepoint memorandum has also sought construction of granary and cold storage facilities to store farmers' produce and more trainings for farmers and increased access to agriculture insurance for farmers.
