KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 29

Lumbini and Gandaki won their matches in the Wai Wai U-19 National Cricket Tournament here today.

Lumbini defeated Province-I by six wickets to record their fourth victory in five matches and moved to the top of the table with eight points. Province-I are second with six points after their first defeat in four matches. Batting first, Province-I were bowled out for a paltry 106 runs in 37.2 overs before Lumbini raced to 110-4 with 159 balls to spare.

Only three batters could score in double figures for Province-I after they were invited to take the strike. Gaurav Katuwal top scored with 19 off 74 balls, while Dipak Joshi scored 23-ball 18 and Rakesh Shah contributed 13.

Lumbini's Mohammad Husen completed the five-wicket haul claiming 5-31, while Wasir Ahmed took 3-9 and Durgesh Gupta returned with 2-25.

In reply, Bishal Bikram KC top scored for Lumbini with 30-ball 26 hitting three fours, while skipper Dev Dhakal struck three boundaries and a six in his 31-ball 25. Wasir Ahmed remained unbeaten on 24 off 16 balls that included three boundaries and a six, while Birat Bhandari (16) and opener Aakash Tripathi (13) also scored in double figures.

Dipesh Kandel took two wickets, while Gaurav Katuwal and Luv Kamat bagged one each for Province-I.

At Mulpani, Gandaki defeated Province-II by 55 runs for their second victory.

Gandaki were all out for 156 runs in 43.4 overs and they defended the total packing Province-II for 101 in 22.5 overs. Both the teams are tied on four points from four matches.

Arjun Kumal scored 47 off 88 balls hitting seven four for Gandaki, while Sandesh Sunar was the next best with 26.

Sachinraj Adhikari and Kamal Pariyar contributed 14 runs each and Prashant Singh (10) reached double-figure mark. Bibek Yadav took 5-20 from nine overs, while Gulsan Jha claimed 3-31 for Province-II.

In reply, four batters scored in double figures but no one could convert it into match winning knock. Trit Raj Joshi top scored with 41-ball 31 hitting two each fours and sixes, while Rohan BK struck three fours and a six in his 24- ball 23. Adil Andari hit three sixes before he was out for 19 off 20 balls, while skipper Bibek Yadav struck a six in his eight-ball 10. Kamal Pariyar took 5-20 from 5.5 overs for Gandaki and he was ably supported by Subash Bhandari (3-30) and Kiran Poudel (2-18).
