Top leaders of Madheshi Morcha meet in Rajbiraj

RAJBIRAJ: A meeting of the United Democratic Madheshi Front has kicked off here in the Saptari district headquarters on Tuesday evening.

The top leaders of UDMF constituent parties – Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party, Sadbhawana Party – have gathered in Rajbiraj to chalk out the UDMF’s strategy and discuss whether to sit for talks with the government and major parties after the promulgation of new Constitution.

The parties have launched agitation in the Tarai districts, protesting the purported number and boundaries of provinces and other provisions in the Constitution.

The meeting was delayed as Tarai Madhesh Sadhbhawana Party Chairman Mahendra Raya Yadav reached Rajbiraj late.

Earlier, TMDP Chairman Mahantha Thakur and Vice-Chairman Hridayesh Tripathi flew to Biratnagar from Kathmandu and went to Rajbiraj via India.

FSFN Chairman Upendra Yadav, Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato and other leaders were already in Rajbiraj.

Meanwhile, Upendra Yadav and CPN Maoist's Co-ordinator Matrika Prasad Yadav addressed a mass assembly earlier today.

Maoist leader Yadav, however, is not taking part in the UDMF's meeting.
