Madhesi leaders’ meeting with envoys regrettable, says MoFA
Kathmandu, April 22
Ministry of Foreign Affairs today criticised the meeting between envoys of foreign missions in Kathmandu and the leaders of Federal Alliance yesterday, saying it was ‘regrettable’.
A dozen leaders of the alliance, including Upendra Yadav, Rajendra Mahato and Mahanta Thakur had met ambassadors and representatives of some influential countries, including USA, UK, India, France, Finland and Brazil in the capital yesterday.
“Such engagements in essentially internal matters of Nepal without the knowledge of the government are regrettable,” read a MoFA statement.
MoFA further said that these kinds of incidents are not compatible with the letter and spirit of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
The ministry also cautioned the diplomatic missions and their members to carry out their functions in a manner that are consistent with their responsibilities.
