Madhesi students continue stir

ITAHARI: Five students sustained injuries when police intervened into the closure call enforced by students’ affiliated to Joint Madheshi Students’ Front here at Inaruwa of Sunsari today morning.

The two sides engaged in a clash when the police prevented them from shutting down the local market. Jayanarayan Yadav, Jitendra Mehata and another student were injured in the police action, the students said. The Madhesh based political parties and their sister organisations attempted forcibly to close the marketplace protesting the apex court’s order to Vice President Paramananda Jha to take a fresh oath.

The Madhesi students also clashed with police at Shiva Chowk of Janakpur today. Nagendra Mandal and Binod Kumar Mahato were injured in the incident. Police arrested two students during the clashes.

Students affiliated to Madheshi Janadhikar Forum called for closure of all education institutions in Nawalparasi tomorrow. Meanwhile, in Bara, cadres of Madheshi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) organised a rally in Kalaiya today protesting the same.
