Madhesis bristle at SPA, Maoist agreement

Rajbiraj, November 8:

Alleging that the agreement between the Maoists and the seven-party alliance has totally overlooked the Madhesis’ problems, the Madhesi Jana Adhikar Forum-affiliated Nepal Madhesi Students’ Front today staged a protest rally here.

The rally later turned into a corner meeting at Neta Chowk after going round the bazaar. Addressing the meeting, central chairman of the Front, Keshav Jha said: “The agreements reached between the SPA and Maoists are conspiracies against the Madhesi people. An example is the cut-off date for distributing citizenships. They have fixed the deadline as April 1990.” He warned of further protests if constituency areas are not determined according to population break-up.

District chairman of the Front Arun Yadav said: “There is no alternative but to launch a strong movement because conspiracies are being hatched against the Madhesis for the past 238 years.”
