Mahanta stresses preservation of historical temples
Mahanta of Janaki Mandir Ramtapeswore Das released a book titled "Digo Bikash Ra Staniya Samudaya" published by Janahit Samrakshan Manch, Kathmandu.
Speaking on the occasion Mahanta Das said that the concerned authorities should give proper attention to protect the historical temples, ponds and other archaeological heritage of Janakpurdham. General secretary of Janahit Samrakshan Manch Prakash Mani Sharma said attention should be given to maintaining cleanliness in Janakpur which has a lot of historical importance.
Member of the CPN-UML Janakpur zonal committee Shital Jha regretted that the ponds of historical importance are being encroached upon by the people. Chief of Janakpur Guthi Sansthan Jaya Prasad Regmi said that even though it was the responsibility of the Guthi Sansthan to protect the land of the historical and religious temples and ponds, the Sansthan had not authority to take action against the encroachers.
Chairman of the Janakpur area development council Narendra Mishra, from the chair, said that the number of tourists visiting Janakpur would increase if the religious ponds were kept clean. Deputy mayor of Janakpur municipality Kishori Saha, Dr Ram Prasad Chaudhary and Dr Pramod Kumar Jha also expressed their views.
