Mahara sees conspiracy to delay polls
Kathmandu, February 12:
A day before the scheduled public address by Maoist supremo Prachanda in Kathmandu, party spokesperson and leader of the Maoist parliamentary party, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, today said conspiracy is being “re-enacted” to scuttle the elections to the constituent
assembly.
“A conspiracy is being re-enacted to repeat the botched 1950 efforts to hold constituent assembly polls,” Mahara told a press conference at the party’s parliamentary party office at Singha Durbar.
Mahara advised all sections of society to remain “alert” to foil any conspiracy being hatched against the elections.
Denying that his partymen are engaged in coercion, Mahara further said: “We don’t force anyone. We simply ask for financial assistance. People assist us financially as per their capacity and will.”
Mahara also said that his party was “extremely cautious” to avoid any untoward incidence during tomorrow’s rally and mass meeting organised by the party.
